Terms & Conditions

Updated Terms and Conditions
Last Updated: January 15, 2026

We strongly suggest that you read and understand our Terms and Conditions as outlined below. Please contact TEFLmasters if you have any questions relating to these terms.

1. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
1.1 All material on the TEFLmasters website is the property of TEFLmasters. Copying, sharing, or reproducing any material beyond the provided social media sharing buttons is strictly prohibited.

1.2 It is free to try Lesson 20 without inputting any personal details, but this content and material remains the intellectual property of TEFLmasters and condition 1.1 applies in full.

2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENROLLMENT
2.1 TEFLmasters invites students over 18 years of age with moderate to fluent English proficiency to enroll in our courses.

2.2 To enroll in any TEFL course, students must provide valid personal information including:

First and family names (as they appear on passport or official identification)
Valid email address
Full billing address
2.3 It is critical that names provided match the student’s passport or the name under which the student will apply for TEFL employment.

2.4 TEFLmasters may refuse to change a name on certification that is notably different from the name provided at course sign-up.

2.5 TEFLmasters reserves the right to refuse certification to any student suspected of completing the course on behalf of another person, based on name discrepancies or other evidence. In such cases, payment may be refunded and no certification will be provided. Each case will be treated individually without bias.

3. COURSE OFFERINGS AND PRICING
3.1 Available Courses (currently on sale with sale price listed):

120-Hour TEFL Course:

Standard: $49 USD
With Assignments: $69 USD (both courses include QR-verified digital certificates)
168-Hour TEFL Course:

Standard: $64 USD
With Assignments: $89 USD (both courses include QR-verified digital certificates)
20-Hour Practical Teaching TEFL Add-On:

$79 USD (includes 20 hours teaching practice + 4 hours structured reflection) – discounted when bundled
This is not the same as the ‘Practical Assignments’ but you may bundle this on
See Section 14 for detailed Practical Add-On Terms
3.2 Base prices are always displayed in USD ($), though multiple currencies are available at checkout.

3.3 All courses are available worldwide to students who meet eligibility requirements and can pay via secure credit card payment.

3.4 Any student who manages to access material without paying may be removed at any point and does not have the right to become TEFL certified – even when completing a full course – until full course payment has been received.

4. COURSE STRUCTURE AND CONTENT
4.1 The 120-hour and 168-hour courses are paid online courses requiring internet access.

4.2 Courses are divided into lessons; all lessons include videos and text content.

4.3 Each lesson is purposefully different, but TEFLmasters may occasionally re-use videos from previous lessons when the information is relevant to multiple topics.

4.4 All lessons must be completed in full by paying students in order to complete the course.

4.5 Students must complete all lesson quizzes satisfactorily to pass. Resits are allowed after feedback is given.

4.6 Free trial lessons (Lesson 20) do not include quizzes, but all paid course quizzes are multiple-choice format (with 10-13 assignments if paying for the ‘Assignments’ course versions).

5. ASSESSMENT AND PASSING REQUIREMENTS
5.1 Students must achieve a minimum score of 75% on all unit/lesson quizzes to pass and complete all assignments to a ‘completed satisfactorily’ standard, meaning that all questions are answered and to a standard considered acceptable by the awarding tutor.

5.2 Students are allowed unlimited attempts to pass unit quizzes. Practical assignments are limited to 3 retakes.

5.3 Midterm and final tests allow a maximum of 3 resits each.

5.4 Quiz results will under no circumstances be rounded up. A score of 74.99% or below is not a passing grade.

5.5 All quiz questions assess the unit content as presented in course materials.

5.6 While failure is possible, no student has failed our courses to date.

6. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY AND AI USE POLICY (New: Effective January 15, 2026)
6.1 Authenticity Requirements

To ensure the value and credibility of your TEFL certification, all assignment submissions must be your own authentic work and reflect your genuine thinking, experience, and learning.

6.2 Acceptable Use of AI Tools

Students may use AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) as learning aids in the following ways:

To understand difficult concepts or terminology
To receive feedback on draft work before submission
To check grammar, spelling, or clarity of ideas you have already written
To brainstorm ideas or approaches to assignments

6.3 Prohibited Use of AI Tools

The following uses of AI are strictly prohibited:

Submitting AI-generated text as your own work
Copying and pasting AI outputs without substantial original thought and personalization
Having AI write your assignments, lesson plans, reflections, or other assessed work for you
Using AI to generate examples or personal anecdotes instead of drawing from your own experience
6.4 Required Transparency

If you use AI tools to assist with any part of an assignment (beyond basic grammar checking), you must:

Include a brief note in your submission stating: “I used [AI tool name] to help with [specific task, e.g., ‘brainstorming activity ideas’ or ‘improving sentence clarity’]”
Ensure all core ideas, examples, and reflections are authentically your own
Be prepared to discuss your submission if requested
6.5 Detection and Verification

TEFLmasters reserves the right to:

Review submissions for patterns consistent with AI-generated content
Use AI detection tools to flag submissions for closer review
Request additional evidence of authenticity, including:
Follow-up questions about your submission
Specific examples from your personal experience
Brief video or audio explanations of your reasoning
Resubmission with additional personal detail

6.6 Consequences of Academic Dishonesty

First Offense:

Assignment will be flagged and student notified
Student must resubmit authentic work within 7 days
Guidance provided to clarify expectations
No penalty if resubmitted authentically
Second Offense:

Assignment receives zero marks
Student must redo assignment under closer scrutiny
Warning formally noted in student file
Certificate withheld until matter is resolved

Pattern of AI Use or Refusal to Comply:

Student may be removed from course with assignments
Student will be offered transfer to non-assignment course version with partial refund (see Section 6.7)
In cases of deliberate, repeated academic dishonesty, certificate may be permanently denied
Refund policy outlined in Section 9 applies

6.7 Course Downgrade Option for Academic Integrity Violations

Students found to have repeatedly submitted AI-generated work or who refuse to comply with resubmission requirements may be offered the following option:

Transfer to the standard (non-assignment) version of their enrolled course
Partial refund calculated as: [Price difference between assignment and non-assignment course version] minus $10 USD administrative fee if 1-5 assignments handed in OR $10 if 6 or more assignments.
Example: Student enrolled in 120-hour with Assignments having submitted seven assignments ($69) transferred to 120-hour Standard ($49) would receive: $69 – $49 – $20 = $0 refund (administrative fee exceeds difference)
Student retains access to all completed coursework and quizzes
Certification will reflect standard course completion only (no assignment component)
This option is offered at TEFLmasters’ discretion and is not guaranteed
Students who accept this transfer option waive any further claims or disputes related to the original course enrollment.

6.8 Why Academic Integrity Matters

These assignments are designed to develop skills you will use in real classrooms. If AI does the work for you, you will not develop the teaching competencies necessary to succeed as an English language teacher. Our certification’s value depends on employers trusting that graduates have genuinely completed the training.

6.9 Questions About AI Use

If you are unsure whether your intended use of AI is acceptable, contact us before submitting. We are here to help you learn, and asking questions demonstrates good academic integrity.

7. COURSE COMPLETION DEADLINES
7.1 All Courses (120-hour and 168-hour):

Students have 183 days from the date of original sign-up to complete the course
After this time, student progress may be permanently deleted
7.2 Deadline Extensions:

Students wishing to extend their deadline must contact TEFLmasters administration before the deadline expires
Extension fee: $20 USD for an additional 2 months
Extensions entitle students to digital certification upon successful course completion

8. CERTIFICATION
8.1 Standard Course Certification Inclusions (from January 9th, 2026):

Includes one digital PDF certificate with gold seal image (and QR)
Includes one digital PDF transcript with all lessons listed (and QR)
All feature QR code embedding for verification
QR code links to TEFLmasters verification page (effective November 16, 2025)
Students input certificate number and name to access online transcript (verification)
All certificates emailed to successful graduates within 2 working days of course completion
8.2 Self-Print Certificate Option:

Available for purchase at $10 USD for graduates
Provides same legitimacy as couriered hardcopy certificates
Aligns with our environmental values
8.3 Certificate Name Policy:

Students enrolled or previously enrolled in our courses are entitled only to the certification inclusions specified in their chosen package
Names on certificates must match enrollment information as per Section 2
8.4 Certificate Delivery Timeframe:

Every effort is made to ensure digital certificates are emailed within 2 working days of course completion
Processing may take longer in some cases
Students who have not received certification within this period should contact TEFLmasters for assistance
8.5 Printed, Embossed Hardcopy Certificate:

Though our self-print certification is on-par with our embossed seal hardcopy certificate, we do offer certified students the option to purchase a courier-delivered hardcopy certificate for no less than $20 administration fee plus the actual cost of tracked courier delivery from our embosser’s school to the student’s receiving address. With FedEx or UPS the courier fee is generally $40 to $55, but this amount may be more or less (depending on location). Students from the United States, please be aware that courier fees from Asia (especially China) have increased astronomically in the last 6 months, so the estimated price quoted earlier is likely too low for your context. Students requesting this service may need to provide private information such as TIN, for example. We only ask for the information required by the courier.

9. CERTIFICATE VERIFICATION SYSTEM (Effective November 16, 2025)
9.1 All certificates include QR code verification linking to our online verification portal.

9.2 Previously, each certificate had its own dedicated verification page. As of November 16, 2025, all verifications are processed through our central verification system.

9.3 To verify a certificate, third parties scan the QR code or visit our verification page and input:

Certificate number
Graduate family name
9.4 Verified information displays the graduate’s transcript and course completion details.

10. REFUND POLICY
10.1 Standard Refund Period:

Students may request a full refund within 14 days of payment submission, provided:

The refund request is made via email
The student has not progressed beyond Lesson 2 of the online course
10.2 The 14-day period constitutes a “cooling-off period” as required by consumer protection laws.

10.3 By accessing any quizzes beyond Unit 2, students acknowledge they have begun the course and their right to a full refund without deductions (outlined below, though rarely administered) is forfeited. TEFLmasters may still decide to issue a full refund (and has always done so before), but this is an act of kindness rather than a legal requirement (please see digital rights law in the UK and EU for protections afforded to digital products).

10.4 Partial Refund Structure:

Refunds provided after students access paid quizzes (from Unit 2 onwards) incur deductions as follows:

$5 USD per quiz accessed, up to the full course total and
$5 USD per assignment received
Quizzes and received assignments represent proof that a student has utilized educational resources and constitute a chargeable service
10.5 This policy complies with EU and UK law regarding digital goods purchases and provides fair protection to TEFLmasters for content services utilized.

10.6 Exceptional Circumstances:

If a student wishes to cancel after the 14-day period has expired, TEFLmasters cannot provide a refund except under exceptional circumstances, including:

Individual technology faults or technical glitches not resolved within 2 days
Other exceptional circumstances as determined by course organizers (decision is final)
10.7 Students are encouraged to try the free lesson to ensure the delivery methods suit their learning needs before purchasing.

10.8 Repeat Customer Policy:

Students previously granted a refund by TEFLmasters (without paying a refund processing fee) who subsequently re-purchase a course waive their right to a full refund. Such students will be charged:

The credit card processing fee (from Stripe or PayPal)
All applicable digital usage fees as set out in Section 10.4
10.9 This policy prevents abuse of our refund system.

10.10 Refund Processing:

All refunds must be processed through the original payment card used for purchase. Credit card processing fees are the responsibility of the refunded student. For security reasons, it may not be possible to change payment cards during refund processing.

11. PRACTICAL TEFL ADD-ON REFUND POLICY (Effective November 16, 2025)
11.1 Full refunds for the Practical TEFL Add-On are available within 14 days of enrollment if no documentation has been submitted.

11.2 No refunds are available after documentation has been submitted for review.

11.3 No refunds are provided for failure to complete teaching hours within the specified deadline (but we do offer free extensions).

11.4 No refunds are provided if submitted documentation is rejected for not meeting requirements (though we generally accept that mistakes happen and allow you to rectify/amend your original documents).

11.5 See Section 15 for complete Practical Add-On terms.

12. STUDENT ACCOUNT ACCESS
12.1 After initial sign-up, students should be automatically logged in and enrolled for the 120-hour TEFL course (the first mandated course for even longer courses) and are transferred to the student area where they should see all available courses.

12.2 Alternatively, students can access their course by contacting us or:

Visiting the student area page
Locating their purchased course on the left side of the page
Clicking to enroll
12.3 Students must keep passwords secure and not share login credentials with others. Log in using your email address.

13. TUTOR SUPPORT
13.1 Tutor support is included with all online courses at no additional charge.

13.2 TEFLmasters staff will answer course-related inquiries and provide technical support free of charge.

13.3 Response Times:

Under normal circumstances: within 1 hour (but we operate only for 16 hours in the average day)
Maximum response time: 24 hours
During holiday periods (e.g., Chinese New Year, Christmas): extended response times may apply to accommodate global staff holidays
13.4 Course content is designed to be clear and understandable. We use a mix of digital voice instructional videos (to cover the expert-made text) and real human voices in supplementary videos. Students also have access to internet search engines and online libraries for additional research.

14. CERTIFICATION ACCEPTANCE
14.1 TEFLmasters makes every effort to ensure courses are professional, legitimate (through accreditation, content revision, and safeguarding against circumvention of our timed training system), and globally recognized. Our content has been designed, made, and delivered using the experience of our team who are all highly experienced and qualified English teachers.

14.2 Our certificates have been accepted globally since our launch in 2020.

14.3 TEFLmasters is not responsible if a company, institution, or official body does not accept our certification.

14.4 We have little control over the independent decisions of employers or officials.

14.5 No company can offer 100% certainty regarding acceptance of certification by all employers globally.

14.6 TEFLmasters cannot be held liable for future policy changes by employers or regulatory bodies.

14.7 We reassure trainees that our certification has been used successfully worldwide without issue to date.

15. PRACTICAL TEFL ADD-ON TERMS (Effective November 16, 2025)
15.1 PROGRAM OVERVIEW
15.1.1 The Practical TEFL Add-On consists of:

Minimum 20 hours of documented teaching practice
4 hours of structured reflection and self-assessment
Submission of required documentation for verification and sign-off
15.1.2 This add-on is supplementary to core TEFL certification and requires separate enrollment and payment of $79 USD (lower if bundled).

Students are solely responsible for:

Sourcing and arranging their own teaching practice opportunities
Ensuring the teaching environment is safe and appropriate
Obtaining necessary permissions, visas, or legal requirements in their location
Ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations regarding teaching or volunteering
15.2.2 Teaching Practice Requirements

The 20 hours must meet the following criteria:

Teaching English as a foreign or second language to non-native speakers
Direct instruction time (planning, breaks, and administrative time do not count)
Taught to learners aged 16+ (or with appropriate safeguarding measures for younger learners – see Section 15.7)
Conducted in-person or online via live synchronous sessions (pre-recorded lessons do not qualify)
Completed within 12 months of enrollment in the add-on program

Evidence: Minimum of 3 pieces of supporting evidence (photos of classroom/online sessions, student work samples, screenshots, certificates from host organization, etc.)
15.2.4 Academic Integrity for Practical Add-On Submissions

All documentation submitted for the Practical TEFL Add-On must adhere to the Academic Integrity and AI Use Policy outlined in Section 6. Specifically:

Lesson plans must be your original work reflecting your actual teaching preparation
Reflection journals must be authentic personal reflections written in your own words
Teaching logs must accurately represent teaching you personally conducted
AI tools may be used to help brainstorm lesson activity ideas or to check grammar in your reflections, but:

Core lesson planning, reflection, and analysis must be your own
You must disclose any AI assistance as per Section 6.4
Submitting AI-generated lesson plans or reflections as your own work constitutes academic dishonesty
Consequences for AI-Generated Practical Add-On Submissions:

Given the nature of the Practical Add-On as documented real-world teaching experience:

First Offense:

Documentation rejected
Student must resubmit authentic work within 30 days
May require video call to discuss teaching experience
No additional fee for first resubmission
Second Offense or Pattern of AI Use:

Documentation permanently rejected
No refund provided (teaching practice verification services have been rendered)
Student ineligible for Practical TEFL certification
May impact standing in core TEFL course if academic integrity violations are severe
Using AI to fabricate teaching experience (false logs, invented reflections, fake lesson plans) is considered fraud and will result in immediate disqualification, forfeiture of all fees, and possible further action as outlined in Section 15.5.3.

15.2.5 Submission Deadlines

All documentation must be submitted within 12 months of enrollment
Extensions may be requested in writing and are granted at the discretion of TEFLmasters
